First Snow
First snow Colubmia, 2008

We started to get some snow last night, first of the year. Not much stuck, but it's still blowing around a little bit.

Breakfast
Flapjacks

Left alone, I can even turn a simple meal into a photo shoot.

New tricks
Textures...

Since the world of photojournalism is not entirely certain for anyone these days, I figure it's important to have a broad skill set. To that end, I've been trying to learn some new techniques for more commercially-geared photography. Hey, it's always important to keep your options open.

The St. Joseph News-Press

I got a chance to visit where I'll be working for the next six months. Great staff and an interesting town. Looks like next year's going to be a good one.

Our friend Mohammed invited us over for a dinner party last night. Of course, when there are three photographers in a small room together, things can get chaotic really really fast. Think of a pack of wolves cross-bred with piranhas and then starved for several days...that's kind of what it was like. After dinner, we found out that Mohammed's kitchen light made for a great studio lighting situation. Unfortunately, the dome on the lamp fell to the floor and shattered, thereby ending our photo shoot. It was a true cultural evening. We had people from Germany, Iraq, Turkey, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and France! Here are a few shots from the evening.

My sister Erin just had a beautiful baby girl. I got the privilege of taking a lot of photos of her for their announcements.

Asbestos awesomeness

They started removing asbestos from the already dungeon-like building I work in. No one was notified. People were worried. My lungs are still quivering in fear. So goes life in the ag building.
